Obesity Days 2016 – 9th Frankfurter Meeting and the 32nd DAG Meeting
WELCOME TO OBESITYDAYS 2016
Welcome to the 32nd Annual Meeting of the German Association for Study of Obesity & the 9th Frankfurt Meeting for Obesity Surgery & Live Surgery Event
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I want to welcome you to our first German Obesity Days here in beautiful Frankfurt am Main. Obesity Days 2016 will be the largest gathering of health care professionals devoted to the care and understanding of the obese patient in Germany and Europe. From surgeons to physicians to nurses to dieticians to psychologists to researchers to everyone who cares for patients with obesity, we are all bound together for that common purpose of alleviating these patients’ burden of disease. Together with our partner, The German Association for Study of Obesity, we will continue to lead these efforts in collegial communion. Obesity Days 2016 will take place at the Kap Europa. The Location: Brilliant! Kap Europa Conference Centre is located within the Europa district. Only a few steps from Messe Frankfurt, it is right next to the Skyline Plaza Shopping Centre and a variety of great hotels. The amazingly central location with immediate access to public transport makes arriving and leaving a breeze: Kap Europa in Frankfurt is only ten minutes from the Main Station by foot, minutes from Frankfurt City by metros and trams and approximately 15 minutes from Frankfurt Airport, the international transport hub – by taxi or train. Short distances help meeting one of Kap Europa Conference Centre’s main ambitions: Lower CO2 emissions.
I want to thank our program committee, for assembling an outstanding program. 2016 promises to be our best interdiscipline obesity meeting to date. Awaiting a record increase in abstracts, we have more than sessions, 6 joint sessions and 2 days live-surgery with 15 oral top poster presentations. We have 9 pre-conference courses for surgeons, hands on labs, and integrated health sessions including an BDC and a DGAV update course.
Reflecting our commitment as the stewards of care for the obese patient, we are offering courses on the use of robotic surgery, endoscopic procedures and suturing skill courses. The most exciting feature for Obesity Days 2016 is live surgery again, providing an opportunity to see real-time experts from 3 continents in action- this is true reality TV. This Live-Suregry event has a long history since 1998. The live transmission of laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures will be transmitted from the Clinic for Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Surgery at the Sana-Klinikum Offenbach am Main.
We are looking for participants from more than 45 countries. Our famous AfterDark Party on Thursday will take place at the restaurant Nizza and the Farewell reception will take place in the Museum for Communication on the riverside of the Main.
In conclusion, we have an outstanding scientific program at Obesity Days 2016. This is your meeting and we need you in Frankfurt am Main for fellowship, education, advocacy, and fun! I look forward to sharing with you our accomplishments in the past year and our plans for the future growth of our field.
With very best wishes,
Rudolf A. Weiner
Congress President 2016
